Let me tell you about this company

Me and husband starting with Tyler Shaffer in mid March. I cannot praise him enough. He worked all kind of hours and 7 days a week on getting us finance for our new home .Then he got us with a gentleman by the name Devon Rockey. Both of them worked really hard we moved yesterday April 13th.And we are still pinching our self to believe its real. We are the happiest people in world right now. Thank you cardinal Financial for making a dream come true Donnie and Cindy Cantrell

Nightmare

We worked with Russell Bandjord who works for Cardinal Financial. Russell gave us a pre approval letter to buy a home that we made an offer on.

We closed on our home October 11th then met with Russell right after and He had verbally told us He made a mistake and we would not be able to get a loan with Cardinal Financial. We have sustained the loss of our home, money, emotional stress, time and work. Cardinal Financial has been made very aware of our situation and keep telling this is very important to them and they are working on it. Since Oct 17th when I notified them of what had happened.

We are now house less living with our 3 kids and pets at my in-laws.

We would have NEVER sold our home to live with our parents. This was a huge mistake and Cardinal Financial nor Russell give a ***

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 22, 2018 All you folks complaining that you didn't get a loan from CARDINAL FINANCIAL / DEVENHUEL MORTGAGE COMPANY should get down on your knees and praise GOD that you did not! If I could go to a negative with your rating scale, I absolutely would!!! My house burned down a couple of months ago. The insurance company was surprisingly efficient in setting me up with a temporary place to live while the investigation was under way but I made the mistake of believing that immediately after the loan was paid in full, Cardinal would simply write me a check for the difference between what I owed them and the amount that the insurance paid but oh *** no!!! It has been the biggest circle jerks, EVER! They have deposited my insurance check, according to the insurance company, over FOUR weeks ago now!!! I call Cardinal and they offer LIE AFTER LIE as to why they can not release the overage and like an idiot, i've already released the insurance company! Now, they have the nerve to INSIST that I stay with them for my next construction loan!!!! *** NO!!! Before this act of complete incompetence, I would have considered your offer but because I'm typing this IN THE RAIN TONIGHT... because my house is in a pile of rubble and you people could care less! I swear before all thats Holy, I will be driving to Lake Zurich Michigan monday afternoon, if my check doesn't arrive monday morning like you promised. I wonder what the headlines will read, once i get there?

I know that the difference between what i owed you to payoff this loan and my actual insurance check is sitting in an account LAKE ZURICH. I plan to leave here Saturday and drive the 1000 or so miles to collect from your headquarters, my 68000.00, on Monday morning

Worst experience I have Ever had as a consumer! Michael brown and Keeta Sherer have run us around for 2 months. They are a joke! Don’t use these scams! Didn’t know what she was doing most of the time had to have a manager tell her what to say. Use local people! Don’t waste your time.

They do not respond after their supposed services are over. Started the process in June and not over yet. We purchased the condo from the previous owner in a process that took three days. They have quit talking to us and won't answer the phone. We still have an acct. that was supposed to be paid and is now 2 months overdue. 100 words is total BS - there isn't room for 100 words on this space. This is done so no one will write in this space. If you have a choice DO NOT USE CARDINAL !! It is a huge time waste - they ask for the same doc over and over again. Avoid at all costs and you won't regret it.

I just had a similar experience with them they are great up to a certain point then stopped answering phone/emails 100% agree . Jordan has awesome review but if you really look lots are from his family, friends ( cross referenced his review to his Facebook page) and see them reference him as uncle , brother etc.

So yeah, I started with them in 1st week in June no nothing .

I called from another number and they picked right up...I will pursue further action by contacting the corporate office in NC in writing . Giving a summary and Requesting response

Horrible Service

I am very disappointed with this company. Many promises were made at the beginning of this transaction. That it would close in 30 days. One month went by, two months, three months!!! I was told that the lender could not get the file released from a previous company he was at and relocated company. However one week went by and nothing happened. I took the initiative and called corporate myself. File was released 10 minutes later! Why couldn't this lender do this simple task? Next Appraisal was done at the very end and the wrong number of units were on Appraisal. Another week went by before appraiser was able to re-enter. Now he under appraised for a 2 unit!!! He is expected to go in a third time now after another week! Unbelievable but true the lender sent the wrong file to Appraiser!! Yet still had the nerve to say your file is my priority. If you have time to waste for 3 months than by all means use this company! Otherwise don't bother. This is like some kind of scam from the 90s!

ALWAYS check customer comments before you select a lender

Dear Reader, I kick myself for not checking this column of complaints before taking the tiresome loan application plunge dealing with Cardinal. During this period, I dealt with at least four different loan officers and too many additional questions not initially asked for a prospective customer with an 800+ credit rating. After Cardinal caused many delays asking new questions we had to pay additional funds as the 'interest rate lock' took more than 30 days. We told them up front that we had always paid the property insurance and desired to continue, however they did not confirm this request, so I assumed they would pay, then after a month a threatening letter arrived indicating they would pay a highly inflated insurance premium if we did not immediately provide proof of our payment. . .which we obliviously did. After a quiet year or so of automatic bank mortgage payments, we were advised the escrow amount had increased, so I thought I had adjusted the automatic payment from our bank account. As it turned out the current months payment had not been made, and as soon as I became aware of this I sent a check in the amount of the missed payment and late payment fee together with the early next payment amount. The back and forth correspondence time from our military overseas address had consumed more than a month after which, without warning Cardinal advised the credit bureau of our 'late' payment which I discovered when I checked our deflated monthly credit score. After their action our credit score of 828 immediately plunged to 711. Prior to this single late payment, we had not missed one payment for more than ten years. In addition to this, we routinely zero out our credit card statements every month carrying no credit due payments. We wrote to Cardinal on April 2nd in a lengthy letter requesting their assistance in recalling their late payment notice attempting to recover what we could of our previous credit score because we were proud of that and had made every attempt to maintain that score. Cardinal came back in their letter dated May 14, a lie (which I received only last week ~ 1 July. With some bureaucratic BS about being legally required to report late payments (with no tolerance for mitigating circumstances) which they could have used in this case due to the turnaround time for military overseas mail service. We feel this is EXTREMELY *** POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE in spite of their canned closing sentence in their letter stating ". . .your satisfaction is important to us. . ." THIS IS TOTAL BS AND THEY KNOW IT. If you are contemplating a refi or new home purchase, you would be wise to check out your prospective loan company's customer support before you get sucked in as we were. BEWARE!!

A lender with Cardinal Financial gave a Letter of Approval to out of state buyers. Assuming they were approved to a certain amount the buyers had an accepted offer on a home. The lender never returned calls or emails to the real estate agent. He approved them for $319,000 FHA loan... the fha loan limit in that state was $294,515.. a local lender aprroved them at max loan amount of $280,000. Heartbroken Buyers..Pissed Off Sellers!

Dropped ball

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We refied a few years ago with Cardinal. As with other house payments, we have an escrow account that taxes and insurance are paid out of. In Texas, along the gulf coast, we have to have special wind insurance not covered in regular home insurance. Here, it's called "TWIA", Texas Wind Ins. It's always been paid from the escrow account. Last year, Cardinal allowed it to lapse, but made it right by finally paying it after we had our homeowner's ins. folks intervening. This year, TWIA billed us, I sent it directly to Cardinal's escrow dept., then e-mailed them every 2 weeks. They never once acknowledged any of our inquiries. 2 days before the policy was to expire, I again contacted our homeowners folks, & they tried repeatedly to contact Cardinal. They were holding, waiting for a person to talk to a minimum of 30 minutes...never talked to a live person. (same results as us...for a month.) I paid the TWIA on a credit card. We're still trying to talk to someone from Cardinal. Will be talking to a real estate lawyer next.

Escrow Mistakes-Problem Resolution

In March of this year I received a call from my very observant insurance agent who had received a cancellation notice due to non payment on my homeowners policy, thank goodness she followed up as they did not pay my homeowners insurance even though they are collecting it monthly (escrow) and the correct mortgagee information and billing is on their records and my policy and this is the second year of them servicing the loan ( hum paid it last year .. no changes in policy dates etc.. ) Oh yea they did not pay the taxes on 1 of the 2 parcels they hold as collateral! So the story begins.. once they were made aware of the issue they then paid it 2 X's which of course meant that my escrow had a deficiency balance of $1283.00 imagine that! So starts the calls to fix this.. I was given an address to send back one of the 2 checks my insurance company received, when I did as instructed to do by their guy named Daniel ( cant give any identifying name # etc in case there is an issue ) on 5/22/18. Here we are May 5/29/18 when I get another statement after making my June 1 payment ( on 5/23/18) that says they have applied $350.73 to principal curtailment and $932.27 as a payment that does not reflect where they applied the payment!! The calls begin again to now find out they are holding the payments in some sort of a suspense account due to the escrow shortage they created!!! Here we are in July still trying to straighten this out .. I did talk to a very helpful supervisor Sara who agreed to get some research done on this ( hum what did they do for the last 2 months when I was calling trying to get this fixed!?) So I continue to make my payments while this is going on , and this morning I get a call from the collections department after getting a person on the line who now tells me I am 2 months behind ( all the while never having stopped making payments ) I am told they are working on it and this could happen.. Well .. the end result is now by the 23rd of July they should finally have everything straight since they will now have to back off and reapply both principal and interest and additional principal payment that I have been paying since they screwed the whole thing up in APRIL of this year.. as a Mortgage professional for over 20 years if I treated my clients this way I would have been looking for a new profession a long time ago! Hope they get it right this time I am beyond fed up with this company too bad it isn't worth my money to refi this loan as it was sold to them and cant get the great rate back .. lucky me..

Horrible

Submitted interested in quote online in June, called me back in July. Was very pushy, insisted I submitted an application which i did not. Explained I had already obtained a company and again insisted I tell them who. I expained several times they can take me off of their list that i had found a company. The sales person insisted he is not telemarketing me, yet refused to stop talking and insisted I tell him the company I went with. He was extremely rude and beyond pushy. After several minutes of him not listening, I finally just ended the call. Heres the thing...he claims he tried calling me several times after I sent a request for a quote. Let me expain....I had many companies call me when I submitted a quote. I only took calls in the first 3 days. If you and your company cant return a call in 24 hours let alone 3 days. I refuse to give you my business. Thats horrible custmer service in my book...especially when youre dealing with a need driven product. No thanks. So please...if youre working for this company...do not ever call me again. Thanks
